When you first saw one, bet you did a double-take. Some of us still do. With unique styling, the used Smart Fortwo Coupe looks mega-cool on the outside and a lot of fun on the inside. Best of all, it's owned by Mercedes, so build quality is beyond question. The weeny turbo engines are great for buzzing around town, while the paddleshift gearbox is nice and funky. The used Smart Fortwo Coupe even comes with plastic body panels that you can swap for a new colour.
The engine is a 698cc unit that comes in three cylinders and three different outputs of 50bhp, 61bhp and the 74bhp Brabus. Performance around the shops and on the school run (provided you have an only child) is great but, for the motorway, you'll want the Brabus. There's a six-speed semi-automatic gearbox that takes some getting used to, and look for a model with air-con, to avoid driving a mobile greenhouse in summer.
