About Mitsubishi
The establishment of Mitsubishi motor was in 1917 when they produced what was known as the Model A which was the first series-production car to be introduced. For the next 20 years they were described as innovators developing Japan’s first diesel engine as well as the very first four wheel drive passenger car in prototype form, this was to stand them in good stead in the years to come.
The 1960’s saw Japans economy improve, along with other major developed countries, and families were beginning to buy cars for transport and leisure pursuits. By the 1970’s Mitsubishi was having huge success in the rallying field, which is where its development of four wheel drive cars came into their own. The Shogun, an innovative 4x4 at the time, was also having huge success and won the gruelling Paris-Dakar rally, it took honours in the Production Class and the Marathon Class, as well as the Best Team award. Two years later it won outright and the Shogun became a global best-seller, winning 4x4 of the Year awards in Britain, France, Australia, Spain and West Germany.
Today, Mitsubishi building of the success of the Shogun, they produce an impressive range of cars, staring with the Colt range. These cars with their aerodynamic shape are economical with dramatically reduced CO2 levels and improved fuel efficiency, a great city or commuter car in three of five door version with a load of extras added.
The Lancer built on decades of rallying success has a host of safety features which includes; seven airbags, ABS braking with electronic brake distribution, amongst others giving this car a5 star Euro NCAP safety rating. The lancer is available as a five door hatchback, or the high performance Hatchback Ralliart.
Mitsubishi’s rallying success is evident in the Lancer Evolution X, a more sophisticated car which has been nine generations of Lancer Evolution preceding it at the highest levels of international rallying. This exciting car will appeal to the sporting instincts of a successful “man about town.”
The Outlander is a great “crossover” which can seat 7 and has with either two wheel or on demand all-wheel drive and is so fuel-efficient that even the latter provides returns on a par with those of an ordinary family saloon and emission levels are remarkably respectable for its size.
The Shogun, well what can we say about this remarkable car that has not been said before except, that it has CO2 emissions which are the best in this class of car, this not only means it is kinder on the environment it also has lower road tax.
