Think Mercedes and you think quality and reliability, Mercedes is a famous German manufacturer of cars, buses, coaches, and trucks. Tracing its history back to 1886 when Karl Benz produced the first petrol engine, Benz was later to develop a four stroke engine, which was fitted to a converted stagecoach, and the motor car was born. Mercedes as a company was not to come along until a later period, the first car under this name being in 1926 following the merger of Karl Benz’s and Gottlieb Daimler’s companies into the Daimler-Benz company. Today Mercedes Benz is the acknowledged as the oldest car maker today and the period from the early days of the motor car until today, has seen Mercedes design and develop luxury cars that have virtually indestructible engines, which are used throughout the world. In addition they have introduced many technological and safety innovations that later became common in other vehicles.
As the inventor of the motor car Mercedes-Benz has always placed great emphasis on engineering and quality and neither of these is missing from the current, or immediate past range of cars. However, the most popular of the range has to be the A, C and E class of vehicles
The A series, petrol models include the superb A 160 and A 180, which both offer ample torque and good fuel economy and diesel with the A 160 CDI with CO2 emissions from 118 g/km. Since the first Mercedes A-Class was sold in 1998, more than 1.1 million have been sold, undoubtedly because of its supermini quality and the famous badge.
The C series is available in saloon version, or the estate, both of which are attractively styled and impressively spacious cars. Few can match Mercedes when it comes to heritage and the C class is the best in UK sales terms
The E class is offered in four distinct styles; The Saloon which has outstanding reliability and refreshingly low whole life costs give even more reasons to choose the E-Class Saloon. The E-Class Estate offers high levels of equipment, comfort and style. Add in a vast load area and you have everything you could want in an estate. The new E-Class Cabriolet retains all the romance and tradition of top-down motoring without compromising modern day performance, safety and comfort.
