About Mazda

In European or American terms, Mazda came into the making of car at a much later date, 1931 in fact with the introduction of the Mazda-Go, but it in no way detracts from the impact that this Japanese company has made to research and development of the modern motor car. The main efforts of the company were the production of engines and they were largely successful producing a number of variations for the renowned three wheeled tri-cycles used by the Japanese for deliveries. One of the most notable achievements was the continued development of the Wankel engine, a rotary design licensed from the NSU Company in Germany. The engine was fitted to the Cosmo sport and presently to the RX8.

Mazda was in some financial difficulty in the 1960’s which resulted in Ford buying into the company in a limited way, gradually increasing their stake which was to prove beneficial, not just to Mazda but also to Ford as well, the alliance has been a very successful one, with Mazda saving perhaps $90 million a year in development costs and Ford much more than that.

The current range of Mazda cars is aimed across the whole of the car buying market from super mini up to SUV and sporty performance cars. The Mazda 2 is a super mini which is regarded by the motoring press as the best in the sector. The Mazda 3 is a popular family hatchback aimed at the Astra, Focus and Golf; it is a well appointed car highly driveable and is available in a diesel engine version. The Mazda 5 is an affordable compact MPV and is on the list for many families; it has sliding doors, which are unique in this segment, making access to the second and third rows very easy. The Mazda 6 is firmly in the Mondeo bracket and as such is on the radar of the fleet buyer as well as families looking for a well appointed roomy comfortable car. The MX5 is a car in the true sporting sense of traditional British sports cars and is in the Guinness book of records as the most successful of all time. Supplied with either a choice of soft or hard-tops, the MX5 has everything that the “top down” motorist could possibly want from a sports car. The Wankel rotary engined RX8 is an entertaining car in every respect with plenty of “grunt” and excellent handling characteristics; it is also a comfortable long distance cruiser. The Mazda CX7 is a 4x4 with sporty looks and excellent handling, described by Mazda as a crossover vehicle; the CX7 will appeal to those buyers looking for a four wheel drive car with a difference.

With a steady supply of vehicles coming on to the market from leasing outlets and other sources, buyers looking for used Mazda cars have a good choice from which they can choose, particularly in the family mid range of the Mazda 2 and 3 as well as the Mazda 6 for the larger family saloons. You can share the Mazda mission “with passion, pride and speed, we actively communicate with our customers to deliver insightful automotive products and services that exceed their expectations.”
