About Lexus
Lexus is part of the Toyota Company and it is rightly described as their luxury car division which first came into being in 1983. Although it was originally aimed at the American car buyer, Lexus is now sold worldwide and is now the largest seller of premium cars, the first model to be introduced was the Lexus LS 400 in 1989.
The Lexus is thought to have come about by Toyota giving itself a challenge to create a luxury car that the motoring press and public could compete with the best in the World. The challenge certainly seemed to have been successful as the marque has been voted no less than 14 times as most reliable by American consumers. Although originally aimed at the American car buying public, it is now sold worldwide and has a manufacturing plant in Canada.
The Lexus has struggled in Europe where it is seen as a small car brand with few knowing that it is part of the giant Toyota. Sales improved in the UK with the introduction of the IS diesel but it is the London congestion charge that focussed the company to announce in 2009 that it was to become a hybrid only marque in the UK.
With the relatively low sales in the UK of this prestige car, used models are not in huge supply, but there are a number of these high quality prestige cars to be found. These are normally the IS range and if you are looking for a car that will deliver you comfort and style, the Lexus IS will do just that for you.
The mission statement from Lexus states that "Our Mission is to ensure that Lexus delivers on the Brand Promise to exceed custom expectations by providing personal and individual facility design and consultation to our dealers and their design teams to ensure the best possible. To attract and retain customers with the highest value products and services and the most satisfying ownership experience."
