About Kia Sorento
Updated for 2010, the Kia Sorento is a quality off-roader with a spacious interior and boot. Euro NCAP gave it the maximum five stars and it's got an excellent diesel engine. Power-wise, the used Kia Sorento comes with a 172bhp 2.4-litre petrol engine, but the popular option is the 194bhp 2.2-litre diesel, which makes swift progress and averages 43.5mpg in two-wheel drive and slightly less as a four-wheel drive.
Kia's much-publicised seven-year warranty means high new prices, but an excellent used buy, with depreciation and peace of mind a good combination. The used Kia Sorento is a safe car, with driver and front-seat passenger getting front and side airbags; window airbags are distributed along the cabin. Stability control is standard, while an alarm, deadlocks and an immobiliser make it hard to pinch. Equipment is good: the entry version gets alloys, electric windows, an MP3 socket and air-con, with posher trims adding leather seats and dual-zone climate control.
