About Jaguar X-type
Based on the Ford Mondeo but a world away in terms of image, the used Jaguar X-Type gives you the Ford Mondeo's fantastic ride plus Jaguar's prestige and feel. All of which means the used Jaguar X-Type falls not too far short of a BMW 3 Series. Inside, wood and leather abound, but if this isn't to your taste, try the Sport trim. You won't be short of space, and the driver's seat and steering wheel adjust handily. For a reliable, refined engine, you'll want the 2003 2.0-litre diesel that returns over 40mpg. It's front-wheel drive, like the 2.0-litre petrols, while the 2.5 and 3.0 V6s come in four-wheel drive.
Kit's a winner with the used Jaguar X-Type, although later versions are better equipped. However, all trims have alloys, air-con and safety galore. In 2005, Bluetooth became an option on the whole range and touch-screen sat-nav became standard on SE, Sport Premium and Sovereign models. Watch out for standard part-leather seats on entry-level S versions and automatic transmission on the 2.2-litre diesel from spring 2008.
