About Bmw

A continuing firm favourite with the medium and luxury car buyer, the German based BMW maker of cars and motorcycles continues to prosper and innovate based on producing vehicles of quality and reliability. Originally a manufacturer of aircraft engines the company had to diversify following the Versailles treaty of 1917 and began to manufacture motorcycles, which was followed by cars around 1929. In the late thirties and forties, aircraft engine production recommenced and was the main product of the company but, by 1959 the company was in serious financial trouble and was restructured. From that moment they have not looked back and are now one of the most successful motor vehicle manufacturers in the world.

The success of BMW has been built on supplying a quality product, well engineered, and aimed at middle to top earning professionals. Undoubtedly the range of cars has been important in this success and has been built on a succession of models which fit into a definite slot in the market place. Until 2004 the cars were aimed at both young company middle management and top end executives through the 3, 5, 6 and 7 series of cars. BMW made a decision to in 2004 to target the lower end of the buying public and introduced the one series which has proved highly successful. In addition of course, BMW are the manufacturers of the famous Mini brand following the takeover of the now defunct Rover Group. They continue to manufacture this model at BMW Group Plant Oxford, the only car production plant responsible for the Mini. BMW cars have proved extremely popular with buyers of used cars, no doubt due to their legendary quality and engineering and also because the BMW brand is a favourite with company car buyers, there is usually a good supply of well maintained vehicles readily available.

Perhaps the most popular are the 1and 3 series and there are many good examples of these with low mileage use. The BMW 1 is the successor to the BMW compact and is available in four body styles. The 3 series BMW is the most popular car within the BMW range and many fine low mileage models are available. BMW 3 Series saloon is one of the UK’s best selling cars. It is a mid-sized four-door saloon car that rivals the Mercedes C Class, Audi A4 and Ford Mondeo. The BMW 5 Series has been the benchmark for what a large, executive saloon car should be since the 1970s. Although not as plentiful in the used car market, there are some good examples to be bought. The BMW 7 is unquestionably in the luxury bracket and it lacks very little in the way of refinement, so if you are looking to create an impression, the 7 series will do it for you. For the motor sporting enthusiast, the BMW 6 and Z4 are the real deal.

The BMW Group is one of the most successful manufacturers of automobiles and motorcycles in the world with its BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brands. As a global company, the BMW Group operates 24 production facilities in 13 countries and has a global sales network in more than 140 countries. Their mission is to become most successful premium manufacturer in the car industry.
