Introduced in 1998, it’s now in its second generation and with two body styles to choose from, the 4-seat coupe or the 2-seat roadster, you’ll love its sleek good looks and responsive handling. Named after the annual Isle of Man Tourist Trophy race, the TT certainly packs a lot in and comes in a choice of 2-litre petrol or diesel engines. In fact, you might be surprised to learn that the low-end models are relatively cheap to buy and running costs are not as much as you might think. The 3-door 2.0 TFSI 211 Sport comes complete with climate control, alloy wheels and MP3/iPod connection and you’ll get an average MPG of 42.8. While it’s not the greenest choice with emissions of 154g/km, you’ll still only pay £155 annually for your road tax.
Admittedly, it’s not a family car and in the coupe you may struggle to transport four adults in comfort. Space in the back is limited but you get ample head and leg room in the front and the split rear seats can provide extra boot space if you need it. The TT is built to last and as you’d expect from Audi, it holds its price well.
