According to Five''s Fifth Gear website, the Peugeot 308 is a strong competitor with two other class-leaders in this sector, the Ford Focus and the Volkswagen Golf.
The review noted that the 308 has a high-quality feel, thanks to an elegant interior, while the glass roof available on some models gives passengers an excellent view out of the vehicle.
"It''s an upmarket impression that''s maintained when you get going, where the 308 rides quietly, supplely and is generally more civilised than many of its rivals," it added.
The review noted that the Peugeot 308''s forgiving suspension and agile handling means drivers can expect "fluid progress" when on twisting roads.
Car buyers'' guide Parker''s has also commended the vehicle, stating that good levels of refinement mean road and engine noise is kept to a minimum.
